| Barbara
has been a member of the NHPA since 1990. One year later, Barbara began
pitching in Class A and has since played in 262 Class A tournaments.
Barbara has taken 47 first places in tournaments and pitched in a total
of 292 tournaments to date. Her best (yearly overall average) of 65.97%
was in 1997. Her best High 3 was around 72% plus around 1999. In
September 1999, Barbara pitched her highest tournament ever with an
average of 76.21%. Barbara Hanson has pitched in four World tournaments. Her first World tournament in 1992. She averaged 57.73%. In her second world tournament 1n 1994 she averaged 54.83%. The Third World tournament in 1999 she finished with a 61.83% average and ended her forth World tournament in 2000 with a 64.17% average. Barbara has pitched nine times in class A at the New England Championship games and placing second in 1999 & 2000. Barbara was the Massachusetts State Women's Champion in 1996, 1998, 1999, and 2000, and was inducted into the Massachusetts Hall of Fame in the year 2000. Barbara is the Massachusetts State Secretary. She keeps track of all member's cards, dues, and information. She is the lady who makes certain we get a packet including a copy of the rules of play and other information pertaining to the game. Barbara is a formidable competitor to everyone she pitchers against and always inspires others to play their best game! She can be seen aiding new pitchers and helping them to feel at ease in the tournament atmosphere. Barbara offers advice and knowledge to any player, no matter what level they pitch, and she is an inspiration to woman in the sport. Barbara is at most tournaments keeping score and assisting in any way possible. She appears neatly, brings a friendly smile, and provides a wholesome attitude to horseshoe pitching by respecting others and following the rules of the NHPA. It is an honor to induct Barbara Hanson into the New England Hall of Fame as a Player/Organizer. |
