Fred Butler, Vermont. Fred started pitching in recognized tournaments in 1938 and between 1941 and 1965 he won the Vermont State Championship 12 times, with 7 of those titles coming in a row from 1958 through 1964.

His highest ringer percent in a State Meet was 65%. His overall average was approx. 59%. Fred won the Southern Vermont title 7 times in 15 tries and the Vermont Open 3 times in 7 tries, and in one of those winning efforts he averaged 68.6% and another time 67%.

Fred pitched in the New England Championships seven times, winning the title in 1960 at Brattleboro with a record of 14 wins and 1 loss and averaging 63.3%. He also finished 4th twice and 5th once in the New Englands.

Fred loved to pitch on the Brattleboro, Vt. Courts and in one stretch from 1958 to 1962 he won 98 games out of 101 pitched at Brattleboro.
