Kevin Hollister started playing organized horseshoes in 1971 at the age of 11.

Kevin and his wife Sarah, live in Shaftsbury, Vermont. They have two children, Emily and Bradley Hoyt. Kevin owns an appliance store in Bennington. He enjoys hunting, fishing, and golfing.

His accomplishments in the Vermont State Tournaments started in 1972 in the Junior Class A, winning his first state title with a record of 5 wins and 0 losses, averaging 51.9%. In 1973. Jr. Class A, 4 and 0, with a 73.5%. In 1974, (his last year as a Jr.), he had a record of 6 and 0 with a 74.7%. In 1975, his first year as an adult pitcher, he won the Class A Men's, with a record of 6 wins 1 loss, averaging 53.5%. He was the youngest player to win the Men's division at the age of 17. He has been the Men's Champ in the years of 1975, 76, 78, 79, 80, 82, 83, 84, 85, 86, 87, 89, 90, 91, 94, and 95. His highest state average was in 1986, and 1991 with a 78.0%. He has recorded an astonishing win loss record of 144 and 12.

Kevin has played in numerous New England Tournaments starting in 1971. In 1974 he finished in 3rd place with a record of 2 and 3 averaging 70.0%. In 1977 his first year in the Men's Class A he finished in 9th place out of 16 with a record of 7 and 8, averaging 71.0%. In 1983, Kevin became the second Vermonter to win the New England Championship Title, with a record of 6 and 1, and 78.0%. He would win the title again in 1984, 7 and 0 averaging 69.7%. 1985, 6 and 1, with a 76.6%, and 1986, 6 and 1 with an average of 81.6%. (highest percentage ever in a New England Tournament). In 1980, he finished in 2nd place with a 13 and 2, and 76.8%. (Pitched three games above 90%).

In the National Picture, Kevin has attended several World Horseshoe Tournaments. Starting with his first WT in 1985, he finished 8th place in the Championship Men's Class. His best finish being 3rd in the 1987.

Kevin was awarded the Vermont Athlete of the Month by the Sportswriter/ Sportscaster's Association. In 1986, he was featured in the Sports Illustrated's "Faces in the Crowd for his outstanding accomplishments.
