Peter Heroux, providence, Rhode Island. In 1933 he won the Rhode Island Junior Championship and finished second in the Men's State Championship at age 13. Two years later he won the Rhode Island State Championship averaging 67% and finished third in the New England meet with 63%. He also won the Rhode Island Open winning 10 and losing 1 with an average of 64%.

In those days averages were just starting to climb and very few pitchers could average over 60%. During the next few years he lost interest in pitching horseshoes as many young pitchers do, but in 1940 he started again and won the Rhode Island State Championship beating out Ken Hurst, the New England Champion.

In 1941 he finished 8th in the New England meet pitching 60%. Shortly after war was declared almost all pitching in New England stopped. Starting again in 1947 he won the Rhode Island State meet 7 times in the next 9 years averaging between 64% and 70% against real strong competition. In 1950 he won the New England Championship with a record of 11 wins and no losses averaging 69.5%.

In five consecutive years he averaged between 69% and 72% in the New England meets and in 11 years he won once, finished 3rd three times, 4th once, 5th four times, 6th once and 8th once in 12 man classes. He won the Rhode Island Open in 1935 and 1947, the Ct. Open in 1953 and Dover, N.H. Centennial in 1955. Pete stopped pitching in 1959 because of arthritis in his legs and has done very little pitching since.
