| Roger
Bolduc, of Maine first got involved with competitive horseshoe pitching
in 1959. He became tournament director in 1964, and still is. Elected
President of Maine State Assoc. in 1965 and continued in that office for
many years. Chairman of New England Horseshoe Pitching Assoc. 1970
through 1973. Responsible for building 20 clay courts at Marcotte Park in 1965. Started the Mr. Horseshoe Award and paid for it himself in 1968. (Has now developed into the Hall of Fame). He made up the Hall of Fame Bulletin Board and has displayed and kept it up to date every year at the New England Meet. Roger started the Most Improved Player Award and paid for it himself for the New England Assoc. Initiated the paid scorekeepers program for the New England meets held in Maine and set up a raffle to pay for them. He is always working to improve the game and bring the best players in the country for the public to watch. As Tournament Director of the Lewiston Maine Club he runs the Spring Round-up, the Maine Open, the Maine State Championships and every other year he runs the New England Championship. |
