Stanley Deleary, Amesbury, Ma. moved to Ma. in 1932 and took up horseshoe pitching because he lacked other things to do. In his first season of top flight tournament pitching, he won the Massachusetts State Title with a ringer percentage of 60%. He also won the New England Title with 63.9%. In six years of pitching, he won the Ma. State title twice, was runner-up once, third once and fourth once, averaging 70%.

In 1942 Stan moved out to Arizona where he won the State Title 10 times 1949 through 1959 and he also competed in the World Tournament about 10 times.

Stan was a full-blooded Hopi Indian. He was a first class gentlemen on the courts, a real reserved type fellow and all his opponents enjoyed his company.
